I haven't gotten the suspension notice from the DMV 11 days after the seizure. I was wondering if they are not even "counting" it because it was in the identical location/situation as the one a month before. The Dr filled the form out last time that it was because of a specific reason. Wishful thinking of course. But it is weird to have not gotten the suspension notice after 11 days.

It took them a good 2 months to suspend mine. Although I wasnt driving those two months, I finally got a letter in the mail saying my license was suspended lol.

Suspended License

Father just diagnosed with Epilepsy. Occurs when he eats. Going through testing and treatment but he is afraid of losing his license. He definitely does not want to hurt anyone while driving but have any of you been given your license back once you were on treatment and seizure free for a period of time? Or does Epilepsy just seal your fate?

I don't know of any place that says you can't drive if you're epileptic. Most laws say that you have to go a certain amount of time seizure free before driving. Most provinces & states seem to be 6 month seizure free but there are some that are more & at least one state that is less.

i've not heard of anywhere that does that either , like epileric said , all the places i know of it's a period of time 6 months , a yr , etc without having a seizure and then you can drive again . best of luck to you & your dad

Interesting how the states are different. In Washington the doctors are not required to report a seizure at all, unless you have an accident. Lucky for me, as I drove for 25 minutes that I don't remember with people calling 911, and the police involved. As I have often said-somebody loves me, because my doctor is not sure how I did not crash. I begin to wonder how lucky I was after the last six months of all these medicines and side effects. I am thankful that I did not hurt or kill anybody, and voluntarily did not drive. I do however blame all the doctors that I went to for several years, trying to tell them that I was having these episodes. I also always knew before I was going to have one, and would pull over, with the exception of this really long episode-it lasted for maybe 2 hours, and started out different than the others. 15 minutes away in Oregon, the doctors are required to notify DMV, and it is a automatic 6 month suspension. I do wonder about all the people with other medical issues. How many people do read about that have heart attacks, and get into wrecks? Seems to happen quite often, and I never hear that heart patients have any issues with their drivers licenses.

My state of CA is 6 months, but I have made it a 12 month requirement for Rebecca.
Thankfully she agrees with me.
